Description: These ?owers appear morphologically to be male sterile having smaller, shriveled anthers without any visible pollen. Fruit set occurs exclusively in such individuals (vide # 4). Sex ratios between these "females" and the "males" in the population appear not to differ significantly from a 1:1 relationship. A high incidence of ?ower bud and ?ower abortion was observed here and fruit set in 29 marked female plants was 22 %.
