Habitat: Juniperus monosperma woodland on basalt lava flow.
Associated Species: Aloysia wrightii, Atriplex canescens, Berberis fremontii, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. eriopoda, B. gracilis, Coryphantha vivipara, Cylindropuntia imbricata, Dalea formosa, Eriogonum wrightii, Fallugia paradoxa, Grusonia clavata, Opuntia engelmannii, Opuntia phaeacantha, Panicum obtusum, Pleuraphis mutica, Rhus trilobata, and Yucca baccata.
Description: Locally abundant cespitose perennial; n=22 during meiosis of microgametogenesis, 2003, from material in cultivation at Chino Valley, Arizona; flower photographed and collected 27 May 2005 from individual cultivated at Chino Valley, Arizona; additional flowers photographed and pressed 20 May 2009.
