Locality: United States, Texas, Pecos, Tunas Springs Roadside Rest Area on Interstate Highway 10. About 15 miles west of Bakersfield (about 2.5 miles east of the McCamey exit; about 20 miles east of Fort Stockton)
Elevation: 870 meters Verbatim Elevation: 2860ft
Habitat: On a low hilltop on the south side of the highway. Limestone.
Description: Uncommon or rare (a stationary search using a binocular, from this hilltop, during the peak of the E. coccineus blooming season, during another field trip, disclosed only one other individual). The other plant (seen only from a distance, on the bluff above the other side of the highway) was a dense rounded clump about 1/2 meter in diameter.
