Associated Species: Juniperus osteosperma/Pinus edulis woodland with Agave utahensis, Atriplex canescens, Berberis haematocarpa, Bouteloua eriopoda, B. gracilis, Coleogyne ramosissima, Coryphantha vivipara, Cylindropuntia acanthocarpa, C. whipplei, Echinocereus fasciculatus, Ephedra viridis, Juniperus osteosperma, Krascheninnikovia lanata, Opuntia basilaris, O. phaeacantha, Purshia stansburiana, and Yucca baccata.
Description: Abundant on pale gray-brown limestone ledges; this individual pollen-sterile; early flower buds photographed 9 April 2010 after being transplanted to outside garden, Chino Valley, Arizona;flowers photographed and collected (3) 19 April 2012, note tope of style and stigma lobes emerging from bud prior to anthesis; fruits (2) photographed and collected 19 June 2012.
