Associated Species: Baccharis pteronioides, Bothriochloa barbinodis, Bouteloua curtipendula, B. eriopoda, Cercocarpus montanus, Cylindropuntia spinosior, Dasylirion wheeleri, Echinocereus chloranthus, E. fendleri, Eriogonum wrightii, Gutierrezia sarothrae, Juniperus coahuilensis, Mimosa biuncifera, Muhlenbergia emersleyi, Panicum hallii, Prosopis glandulosa, Quercus emoryi, Setaria macrostachya, and Thymophylla pentachaeta.
Description: Several individuals locally among rhyolite rocks; pollen-terile individual; transplanted to outside garden, Chino Valley, Arizona; early flower buds photographed 7 April 2012; flower photographed and collected (1) 3 May 2013; another flower collected 6 July 2013; individual died by 18 September 2014 and dry stems pressed.
